Travels with Stanley
The Cup spent Sunday with Carolina Hurricanes captain Rod Brind'Amour in his hometown in British Columbia. The sports editor of the Campbell River Mirror was jogging on Sunday evening when he saw, Brind'Amour and Carolina teammate Mike Commodore swimming with the Cup -- in the Campbell River.
The detour came Monday when the Cup was taken to Montreal to have a small dent repaired at Boffey Silversmiths.
Hockey Hall of Fame spokesperson Kelly Masse wasn't surprised that the Cup had been dropped in the Hurricanes' dressing room during their celebration after winning the Cup last Monday.
"That happens quite often," Masse said.
Masse added that the Cup will be ready for a trip to New York City later this week.
On Thursday, the Cup will appear on the Late Show with David Letterman. No word on who will appear with the Cup. On Thursday and Friday, the Cup is also scheduled to visit -- with Eric Staal and Conn Smythe Trophy winner Cam Ward -- VH-1 and an FHM Magazine event.
